Call for papers | General information

Registration open for presentation of papers:

The Varkey Foundation, with the support of the John Templeton Foundation, is pleased to open the call for papers for the International Congress for the Development of Virtues to be held April 14-15 at the Universidad Austral, Buenos Aires, Argentina. 

 

We invite researchers, academics, educators, philosophers, theologians, government officials, leaders of civil society organizations and other stakeholders who have a particular interest in character education to submit their papers.

 

The papers selected by the jury will be eligible for presentation on April 14 at the opening of the Congress, which will be aimed at a selected audience of 50 recognised academics, government officials, leaders of civil society organizations, universities, educators and other stakeholders in the educational community.

We are looking for experiences that describe conceptual, theoretical and practical examples for the development of character education in education. Papers will be accepted on the following topics:

  • Programs or processes that promote character development and how these interventions have influenced social and academic outcomes for students, teachers, parents, schools and/or districts.

  • Meta-analysis or systematic review of the latest trends in character development. What methods have been shown to be effective and what should future research seek to understand?

ANNOUNCEMENT

REGISTRATION DEADLINE

  • The registration of papers will open on 22/11/22.

  • The deadline for submitting papers is Friday 3/2/22, 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.
    **Will not be accepted after the official deadline.**

EVALUATION

  • At least two independent reviewers will evaluate the papers presented.

ACCEPTANCE

  • Participants will be notified of the jurys decision on the week of
    13th February 2023

Structure of the presentation

The overall structure shall not exceed the combined count of 700 wordsconsisting of the following parts:

AUTHORS

KEYWORDS

TITLE

  • Please provide the names and organizational affiliations of the first author, all co-authors, and associated funders.

  • Include between 4 and 6 keywords.

  • The title must be informative, but concise, without subtitles or abbreviations or acronyms.

INTRODUCTION Y
BACKGROUND

  • Explain why your presentation is important and what questions it will answer. Clearly stated background information sets the scene and should include a brief description of the topic and its importance.

DEVELOPMENT

  • Specify the context, development and significant conclusions (both positive and negative) that are directly related to its objectives.​

CONCLUSION

  • ​Be as concise as possible. This section should include an interpretation of the main conclusions and their implications for the field of character development.
