School Leadership

A global network created in 2021 together withGlobal School Leaderswhich is part ofTeacher Task Forcepromoted by UNESCO. It seeks to strengthen the voice of educators within the academic community and in public policy, understanding the characteristics of effective school principals and their main challenges. At the same time, it encourages school leaders to become agents of change.

Throughout the year we meet under various work modalities:

Through the working groups -incorporated this year- we opened a space for the most committed and active school directors and experts to meet and delve into key issues selected by the network: 

  1. school management

  2. The link with the community

  3. The professional development of their teaching teams and student learning. 

 

The working groups were co-led by school directors from all over the world.

Featured events 2022

We started 2022 by presenting the learning of the network at the

XI Inter-American Conference on School Management and Leadership, organized by the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.

 

We share our experience as a novel model of collaboration in educational leadership, and the challenges of working in a global network of school principals and education experts.

In September, the Network was invited to share its work at the United Nations General Assembly, in New York, during the “Transforming Education Summit” event.

Agustín Porres reflected on the lack of trust in the educational system and  shared leadership and innovation perspectives.

Conclusions on the consultancy meeting for UNESCO on its document“Thematic area of action 3: Teachers, teaching and the teaching profession”

Learnings from the network after a year of work. We share challenges and characteristics of school leaders for a better understanding and better design of comprehensive school leadership public policies.
